When I became a father, I became keenly aware of how much of the music I listened to was not appropriate for kids. I searched for rap music that appealed to the little ones, but most of it was just too corny. So I decided to make a rap album for kids AND grownups to enjoy together.

This project began 10 years ago when my son Xavier (Xavi) was born. His mother and I would make up songs as we navigated the routines and surprises of parenthood, and I would beatbox and rap to him as we went through our normal days. Soon Xavi was making up his own songs! When he was 3, I began to create instrumentals to our song ideas and record them with Xavier. The songs started to accumulate.

Play! Hip-Hop for Kids of All Ages is about finding joy in the routines and challenges families face every day. Each song on Play! is really a fun story, ready to be bumped by those who love rocking with their kids.

These songs are the soundtrack of our lives together. We hope they can also bring joy to you and yours.
